Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis given five-game stadium ban

Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has been given a five-game stadium ban.
The Reds owner has been handed the punishment by the FA for “improper conduct” following the club’s defeat at home to Fulham on September 28.

Forest are expected to appeal the ban having already contested the FA’s £750,000 fine for the club’s comments on social media last week.

Marinakis’s ban follows Nottingham Forest manager, Nuno Espirito Santo’s own three match touchline ban for misconduct following the draw away at Brighton.

Forest are also without midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, who has been given a one match ban for misconduct after his dismissal on the south coast.

The length of the ban for Nuno is related to the fact the FA has triggered a suspended one-game ban handed to him following comments criticising officials after Forests game against Everton in April 2024.

Speaking at Friday’s press conference about his ban, Nuno said he was “surprised” to hear about his punishment.

“It’s tough but what is important is that we are ready as coaching staff and that the team prepare well.

“It will not disturb us – let’s ignore the noise outside and focus, we have an issue to take care of,” he added.

Despite also being involved in the scuffle between the two sides, Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler did not receive a stadium ban.

Nuno declined to comment on the difference between the two.

He said: “I am a football coach, it is not for me to decide or analyse [the ban], I will pay my fine, I will take my ban and hopefully it doesn’t happen again.”
