‘If truth be known’: Sean Dyche makes honest admission on £9m Everton player

Everton prepare to take on Ipswich Town later today away to Portman Road and at their press conference Sean Dyche told the truth about one player.

   The Toffees are awaiting Jarrad Branthwaite’s late fitness test to see if he can play any part in today’s game, with a handful of players already ruled out.

   Tim Iroegbunam, James Garner and Nathan Patterson are already ruled out with injuries, leaving Sean Dyche with slightly less options.

   Everton have Iliman Ndiaye fit, as well as Seamus Coleman and Vitali Mykolenko ready to return after the break, so that’s a positive.

   Interestingly, Sean Dyche told the truth about one of the injured players when he spoke at a press conference ahead of the Ipswich game.

   Sean Dyche struggled to be fair with some of his players at times, often arguing when it came to Jake O’Brien’s lack of playing time.

   But he has come forward and spoken openly and honestly about where the club sees the player at the moment, which is refreshing to see.

   Sean Dyche told Sky Sports that Tim Iroegbunam was expected to be slow and was not included at Everton at this stage.

   That’s what he said.

   “Tim had a really good pre-season, a really good start, but to be honest he was probably the one we were thinking about who was probably going to be slower.”

   Tim Iroegbunam joined Everton from Chelsea in the summer for £9m.

   He has already made six appearances for the Toffees in the Premier League this season, which is more than Sean Dyche expected from him.

   There is no doubt that he can become a special player in the center of midfield, as he is already showing promising signs at the age of 21.

   However, the club will be hoping that such unexpected injuries can be avoided after watching Dele Alli’s struggles at Goodison.
