Anthony Gordon makes new gesture after what happened v Everton at Goodison Park

Anthony Gordon made a gesture to thank Newcastle United fans after missing a penalty against Everton at Goodison Park, Keith Downie reports.

   A Sky Sports reporter wrote on X (October 19) that Gordon pocketed the money behind the counter at Newcastle’s Strawberry Pub, showing his appreciation for their support after the 0-0 draw on October 5.

   Gordon, who left Merseyside in acrimonious circumstances in 2023, saw Jordan Pickford’s defense impress at Goodison Park in the first half.

   However, it is clear that Gordon rested on the support of his new club and their fans, after a day to forget on his long-awaited return to Goodison Park.

   Had Gordon bagged his penalty at the Gladwys Street End and robbed Pickford of a big moment in the heat of the match, it’s worth wondering how different the mood would have been.

   Gordon was understandably declared public enemy number one before kick-off, but after wasting a chance that could have won it for Newcastle, the mood at Goodison was celebratory.

   Giving the bar money as a thank you to the Newcastle fans is certainly a generous gesture from the 23-year-old and Blues fans will wish he had shown this level of courtesy during his time on Merseyside.
