Man United fans explode as ‘disgrace’ West Ham VAR footage re-analysed

Man United fans exploded after the decision to award West Ham a penalty in the dying minutes of the Premier League game.

   Erik ten Hag’s side suffered a frustrating 2-1 defeat at the London Stadium after goals from Crysencia Summerville and Casemiro, before Jarrod Bowen’s decisive goal.

   But the penalty awarded by referee David Coote and VAR official Michael Oliver shocked the traveling fans and cost United the game.

   Matthijs de Ligt’s knee touched Danny Ings during a challenge in the box, resulting in a penalty, despite replays showing that Ings ran back to challenge the ball, causing the collision.

   It was a tale of missed opportunities for the Red Devils, who struggled in front of goal, including Diogo Dalot’s shock miss in a frustrating display.

   However, fan ire was immediately directed at Coote and Oliver, with officials branding the match “spoiled” by the call.

   Bowen eventually converted the penalty to secure all three points for the hosts, giving them their third Premier League win of the season.

   The Hammers moved above United in the league, where Ten Haga’s side have dropped to 14th place with three wins, two draws and four defeats in their first nine games.

   It is expected that the press will now return to the coach’s position, but anger at the referee will overshadow criticism of Ten Hag for the time being.

   United have now won just one of their last eight games in all competitions and are without a win in five away games.
