Nottingham Forest told they have a player out on loan who is just like Nikola Milenkovic

Nottingham Forest signed a number of players in the summer transfer window, some for the here and now and others with an eye on the future.

   It was imperative that the Reds get their back foot in order, and last season proved to be a chaotic defensive mess at times.

   Nikola Milenkovic was the central defensive signing, while Alex Moreno came in to provide balance in the flanks.

   One player who proved to be a bit of a surprise signing was Portuguese defender David Carmo, who went straight to Olympiacos on loan.

   The player helped the Greek side win the European Conference League last season and Evangelos Marinakis has completed a deal that could benefit Forest in the long term.

   An Olympiacos pundit gives his verdict on Nottingham Forest-owned Davide Carmo

   We admit that as Forest fans we haven’t seen much of Carmo, so we asked Olympiacos fan Panagiotis Stam for help.

   He gave us a little introduction to Carmo and first we asked him how he got started at Olympiacos after a hugely successful campaign last season.

   Stam exclusively told Nottingham Forest News:  “Olympiacos tried hard to keep him this year and finally succeeded with the help of Nottingham Forest. The player missed the entire pre-season and it was not until August 31 that he played again for the first time in red and white.

   “If we review the first two months of Carmo’s return to Olympiacos, I think we have to agree that we expected better things from the centre-back.

   “It’s not that he wasn’t good, but he definitely wasn’t as good as he was at the end of last season. He needs to figure out how to be a safe bet for the team’s defense again.”

   Although his second spell at Olympiacos hasn’t exactly started with hot form, there are clear strengths when it comes to his defensive play.

   Stam continued:  “He is a 6ft 5in lefty, has a good long pass and is dominant in the aerial challenge.”

   Carmo compared to the current Nottingham Forest star

   Finally, we asked Stam if there is one Forest player that Carmo resembles and he gave an interesting answer.

   He told us:  “I’m not an expert on Forest, but he reminds me of Nikola Milenkovic. We will meet him in the European final against Fiorentina.

   “Like the Serb, I see Carmo as a big league player and if he rediscovers his form from last season he could play for Nottingham Forest. Stoppers of his size who are not slow are not easy to find.”

   Well, this business already seems like complete nonsense.

   Forest parted with just £10m to sign the Porto player, with Olympiacos likely to pay a fee to take him on loan.

   The Reds could lose Murillo next summer and with Carmo at left-back, the club may already have signed a deal to replace him.

   These comments do sound positive from a forestry perspective.

   The hope is that Carmo will stay with the team this season and return to the form he showed last season when Olympiacos won the European title.

   If he does, he should come into Forest Bang fit and full of confidence.
