Bumper price tag emerges as Nottingham Forest ‘make checks’ on transfer target

Nottingham Forest are set to step up their interest in Brazilian striker Igor Jesus as the January transfer window approaches.

   The 23-year-old is reportedly being monitored by many Premier League clubs, including the Reds.    However, it seems that a significant amount would be required to take him away from Botafogo.

   Forest were first linked with Jesus last month when he made his debut for his national team.    Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Brentford and Brighton and Hove Albion were also credited with watching him during that time.

   According to TBR Football, the Reds have followed that up in recent days by “checking” the striker.    Newcastle are expected to do the same.

   The competition for the Brazilian is only increasing, despite the £30m price tag being hinted at now on his head.    Fulham and West Ham United have been added to the list of Jesus’ admirers, with the latter “left enquiry” and the Cottagers having completed their checks.

   Forest already have a strong Brazilian contingent at the City Ground, with Danilo, Carlos Miguel, Morata and Murillo on their books.    The latter is currently serving alongside Jesus in the Brazilian squad, having been called up for his country for the first time.

   Bolstering head coach Nuno Espirito Santo’s resources at the top of the pitch is likely to be on the Reds’ agenda in January.    They tried to sign the striker in the summer but failed to reach an agreement before the August 30 deadline.
