Leeds United were forced to sell Luis Sinisterra in the 23/24 season after the winger threatened to sue to join Bournemouth.

   When Daniel Farke took over the club, he probably didn’t know the damage Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta had already done when they signed for the club.

   One of the most notable exits in the summer of 2023 was Luis Sinisterra, who headed to Bournemouth on loan after threatening legal action to take up the Premier League option.

   The Colombian impressed the Cherries and their manager Andoni Iraola during the 23/24 season on loan, to the extent that they accelerated the possibility of buying Sinisterra.

   The two clubs agreed a £20m deal after the end of the January window, ending a chaotic saga so Leeds could recoup the money they spent on him in 2022.

   In his first campaign for the south coast club, Sinisterra managed just two goals and two assists while the latter half of the campaign was ruled out through injury – a common theme from his years in Leeds colors before he jumped ship.

   Sinisterra was hoping to shake off his injury woes this season as the Cherries scanned the table.

   Iraola’s men have been solid as a whole so far and sit in 12th place with four wins and three draws from 11 games, including wins over Manchester City and Arsenal.

   However, Sinisterra has yet to add much with a goal and an assist, both coming against Everton in the same game – his only two starts this season came in August, one in the EFL Cup and one in the league.

   He has also missed the last three games with a hamstring injury, which Iraola confirmed was a recurrence of a long-standing problem (via the BBC):

   “I’m more worried about him going down because it’s more about the hamstring injury he’s had in the past. He tried this week but he’s not feeling well. He’ll need more time.”

   Leeds mourned Sinisterra’s 11th-hour poach in the summer of 2023, but the same problems down the wing continue to hold him back and he is proving a valuable signing for Bournemouth at a high price.
